Great Questions & Ciscoe!

This past weekend our office was surprised and delighted to hear a local radio show, “Gardening with Ciscoe” (KIRO FM 97.3), asking questions about the Solatube!  We wanted to post the 2nd hour link so you can listen too as a caller asks about the benefits of the Solatube for house plants. You will also hear 2 other callers talk about their personal experiences with the Solatube in their home, AND our very own Sales Consultant, Dawn, talk about how the Solatube can bring natural light into your home for plants! We are very appreciative to Ciscoe and his team at KIRO FM 97.3, for letting us respond on the air to the great questions that Ciscoe and his callers had!

Take a listen and tell us what you think!

Hour 2 full of your questions for Ciscoe, including lots of help from listeners about solatubes and how they can help your home

PS Like Ciscoe said, we will be at all the major Home & Garden Shows that are coming up! The Tacoma Home & Garden Show January 26th -29th and the Northwest Flower & Garden Show in Seattle February 8th-12th! See you there!

A Solatube Holiday Poem

Twas the DAY before SOLstice

The darkest DAY…Oh my DEAR,

Your HOME was so DREary

How would you GET through the YEAR?!

But toMORRow, you thought….your heart HOPEful and LIGHT,

ToMORRow my HOME will be WONderful and BRIGHT.

So you PICKED up the PHONE and you called for the MAN…

The MAN with the SOLatube in a SOLatube VAN.

He arrived as he PROMised, at your DOOR, right on TIME

And in TWO tiny HOURS, that ROOM was subLIME!

The change was aMAZING, your room was so LIGHT!

‘Round SIX hundred DOLLars, this decision was RIGHT!

EVen with CLOUDS largely CROWDing the SKY…

You could NOW leave your LIGHTS off every day… MY MY MY

Your HEART FILLed with JOY as you CLOSED your front DOOR

And you smiled and you thought… I’ll be calling HIM for MORE!

To DIY or Not to DIY?

One of the stories that our sales staff always tells when talking to homeowners about the question of DIY (Do It Yourself) Kits for the Solatube, is that of the mid 60′s neighbor that installed his in 3 hours. It’s a great point of reference because it proves that anyone that is willing to cut a hole in their roof CAN install a Solatube in the length of an afternoon. This customer purchased the materials, read the instructions and voila! Brightened his bathroom in 3 hours!  Impressive. So impressive in fact that we went over to interview him and take some footage of his handiwork…

NWNL: How easy was it?

Homeowner: despite my hesitation in punching a hole in my own roof . . . it was simple; as long as you go step by step. Having the elbows really helped.

NWNL: What do you think of the light year-round?

Homeowner: The light is fabulous. During the daylight hours, you never turn the light on in there. The light from our bathroom even lights up that segment of the hallway.

NWNL: How did you like working with us?

We visited the display room and compared the Solatube to different options. It really helped to see the quality differences.

. . . Now, DIY isn’t for everyone and we can offer installation for most applications. But its nice to back-up what we say everyday with a little street cred, the Solatube is straight forward in its design, and like our homeowner said “. . . it was simple; as long as you go step by step.”

NOTE: NWNL is having a DIY EVENT THIS FRIDAY! 2pm-6pm $50 OFF DIY kits purchased that day & mini DIY classes at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm & 5pm!!

Call with questions! 425-744-1211.

Not to be combined with other offers.

At Home in Edmonds

Our New Location in Edmonds

We’re finally settled in! It has been about 6 months since we moved offices from our long time home in Lynnwood. We are here now and really like it! After getting a feel for the neighborhood, here are a few things we have noticed about our new home:

  • We have some really nice neighbors!
  • Our new showroom is easy to get to from I-5, 405, and Hwy 99.
  • There are plenty of choices when it comes to lunch-time take out. :)
  • While there are many stores, shops, and restaurants, Edmonds really has a home-town feel.
  • We have a very loyal customer base that has made the drive to Edmonds to see us!

We are so happy to be in our new home in Edmonds! We really enjoy being a part of local business in this area. AND we’re really excited for the Taste of Edmonds this week, August 12th-14th! Come out and see local businesses, taste delicious food, and see your neighbors at this fun event! We will be there, hope to see you there too!

Brighten Up!

Natural light is a very valuable thing in the Northwest. A lack of natural light and vitamin D can really make you and your family cranky!

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is experienced by 6 out of every 100 people in the United States and is more prominent in the northern hemisphere where winters are longer and the days are shorter.  Symptoms can be a change in appetite, craving starchy and sweet foods, weight gain, a drop in energy level, oversleeping, and a list of other mood changing behaviors. Treatment for SAD, in some cases, is very simple… More natural daylight.

The first step to medicate for SAD is more exposure to daylight. Getting more exposure to sunlight is the most natural way to treat SAD as well as other common ailments. Getting outside for at least 25 minutes everyday and soaking up natural light and allowing the light to reach your eyes is one way to treat SAD and ensure a healthier life. In the Northwest, it may be easier said than done to get outside and soak up 25 minutes of daylight or sun, but there are still several things you can do to help alleviate your sunless blues.

Rather than driving to the store, get out and take a walk, do some yard work, read a book or have a picnic in the park, and in the winter, making a trip to the mountains where the sunlight is intensified when it bounces off the white capped slopes, these are all things you can do to help your mood and stay healthy. You can also bring the natural light to you, in your home with Solatube Daylighting Systems. Enjoy your health and natural light in your home now and everyday after to come.
